Insulate your home inexpensively

Insulating. It is the way to reduce your energy bills. Because the better your house is insulated, the more heat stays between the walls and you don't have to turn up the heating as much. If you want to insulate your house quickly and inexpensively, so that you are still warm this winter, you choose PIR insulation material. This is specially developed as thermal insulation material and easy to apply in your home %26nbsp;

PIR vs. PUR

PIR insulation material is a special synthetic material that is produced using propellants. The production process produces a hard foam material with closed cells. This, in turn, is important for insulation. These foams in turn resemble the liquid insulation material PUR, which hardens slowly when it comes into contact with oxygen. In this, PIR and PUR do not differ much from each other. However, PIR is lighter, thinner and comes in ready-made boards. Because PIR and PUR have the same properties, use PUR foam to seal the seams between the PIR boards %26nbsp;

Moisture-resistant

Another advantage of PIR insulation material is that it already comes with what is known as a 'vapour-proof layer'. This aluminium shield blocks moisture and therefore you do not need a foil or other material to form a vapour-proof layer. Ideal if, for example, you want to insulate a 'wet room', such as the bathroom, toilet and kitchen. With PIR, you can get started right away. How convenient is that %26nbsp;

Many applications

Another advantage of PIR is that it can be used in many ways in the home. The boards are ideal for thermal insulation in those areas of the house where you have little room for bulky insulation materials. These include pitched and inclined roofs, cavity walls, flat roofs and floors. The lightweight boards are strong and dimensionally stable, allowing you to walk on them. Therefore, they are very suitable as floor insulation and for flat roofs with roof terraces. You don't have to worry that the boards will break. So you enjoy heat insulation at its best. Special PIR boards are available for every job. PIR boards are also easy to cut to size, so you can insulate any space from corner to corner. And did you know that PIR insulation boards are also soundproofing %26nbsp;

No heat conductor

In the story of insulation, we are all looking for solutions to keep the heat in the house. So for this, you need insulation material that does not conduct heat. So this means that it does not absorb heat, but repels it. The lambda value of insulation material indicates how well it keeps heat away from itself. The lower the value, the worse it conducts heat. The lambda value of PIR is between 0.019 - 0.027 W/mK, which therefore indicates that the boards hardly absorb any heat.%26nbsp;

Even more insulation

Insulating the floor, ceiling and walls pays off big time. Yet there are other ways to keep as much heat indoors as possible. Radiator foil, for example, but also draught strips along doors and windows. There is even insulating window decoration where curtains block draughts and keep heat in. It is useful here to be able to close curtains tightly, preferably over each other. While you're at it, take a critical look at the glass in the windows. Many old houses have not yet had an upgrade to insulating glass. Single glass, consisting of a single pane of glass, leaks more heat than triple insulating glass. The latter consists of three sheets of glass with some space between them. These spaces retain heat, keeping more heat in the house %26nbsp;

Costs for insulation

Insulating to reduce energy bills and increase heat output in the home naturally costs money. Installing PIR insulation boards in your home may be a cost-effective way, but if you are going to tackle the whole house, the cost can still become bigger than you might want. Did you know that it is possible apply for subsidy for insulating your own home? There are several criteria attached to the application, though. For instance, you are only eligible for a subsidy if you are going to install two or more insulation measures in your house. For example, insulation of both the floor and the attic. You can also qualify for a subsidy if you combine a form of insulation (such as cavity wall insulation, floor insulation or roof insulation) with the installation of a solar boiler or heat pump or opt for a connection to the heating network. Opting for PIR insulation is a good start here.
