What is the brokerage commission?

Brokerage commission is a difficult word for the percentage fee a traditional broker skims off the final sale price. Brokerage fees average around 1.5%, with a range to 1.25% at the lower end and 1.75% at the higher end. Because you charge a percentage, the fee increases rapidly at higher sales prices. Brokerage commission: why is the sacred brokerage house crumbling?

To begin with: the brokerage commission is basically a clever form of remuneration. The brokerage fee incentivises a real estate agent to sell your house as expensively as possible. Brokerage explained

On average, an estate agent's commission is between 1.25 and 1.75 per cent of the selling price of the house. The estate agent is subject to tax, so VAT will have to be taken into account.
