Privacy Statement
This is the privacy statement of vb&t Estate Agents (hereinafter referred to as ‘we’). In this statement, we describe how we handle the personal data of our customers, suppliers and clients. This privacy statement may be amended from time to time. The most recent version will be published on our website.
The site www.vbtmakelaars.nl processes privacy-sensitive data, or personal data. We consider careful handling of personal data of great importance. Personal data are therefore carefully processed and secured by us.
In our processing, we comply with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (‘AVG’) and other applicable laws and regulations. Among other things, this means that:
- we clearly state the purposes for which we process personal data. We do so through this privacy statement;
- we limit our collection of personal data to only the personal data needed for legitimate purposes;
- we first seek your explicit consent to process your personal data in cases where your consent is required;
- we take appropriate security measures to protect your personal data and require the same from parties processing personal data on our behalf;
- we respect your right to access, correct or delete your personal data at your request.

Personal data is any data that can provide information about an identifiable natural person. We process your personal data because you use our services.
When may we share your personal data with third parties?
vb&t Makelaars only shares your personal data with third parties when permitted by current legislation. We may provide your personal data to third parties because:
- we have engaged them to process certain personal data.
- this is necessary to execute the agreement with you.
- you give permission for this.
- we have a legitimate interest in doing so.
- we are legally obliged to do so (e.g. if the police require this in case of suspicion of a crime).
The parties that process personal data on our or your behalf are:
- IT suppliers and service providers

For what purposes do we use your personal data?
When you use our website and services, we obtain various types of personal data. We indicate for each purpose what data we obtain from you, what the basis for this is and what retention period applies.
Contact form and newsletter
Through our service, we offer the possibility to ask questions by means of a contact form, whereby you are asked to fill in various data in order to process your question. You choose which data you provide in the process. The data you send us will be kept as long as is necessary, according to the nature of the form or the content of your e-mail, for it to be fully answered and processed.
We offer a newsletter through which we wish to inform interested parties about our products and/or services. Each newsletter contains a link that allows you to unsubscribe. Your e-mail address is automatically added to the list of subscribers.
Purposes and bases
We process your personal data for the following purposes:
1. Sending our newsletter and other publications.
2. Informing you about (changes to) our services and products.
3. Developing and improving our services.
4. We analyse your behaviour on the website in order to improve the website and tailor the offer of products and services to your preferences.
5. We track your surfing behaviour across different websites to match our products and services to your needs.
The bases for processing your personal data are, depending on the case:
- the granting of consent;
- concluding and executing the service agreement with you;
- for the representation of the legitimate interests of our clients, unless your interests, fundamental rights or freedoms outweigh these.

What do we record when you apply for new-build rental accommodation?
We store and use only the personal data that is directly shared with us by you in the context of the service you have requested, or that is clear upon submission that it is provided to us for processing. We use the following data for the purposes set out in this privacy statement:
- name and address details
- Telephone number
- E-mail address
- Income data
- Statement of assets and/or debts
- Declaration of marital status
- Bank details
- IP address
We use this personal data to execute agreements, to improve our services, and to facilitate communication with you as our client.
We conclude a processing agreement with companies that process your data on our behalf to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality of your data. We remain responsible for these processing operations. Our employees are obliged to respect the confidentiality of your personal data.
We do not process any special or sensitive personal data.
ID and credit check
Before entering into an agreement with you, we want to form a picture of any payment risks. This is how we determine whether to enter into an agreement with you and what conditions we apply. For this purpose, we will also provide your data to Economic Data Resources B.V. (EDR). Economic Data Resources B.V. (EDR) checks personal data and provides credit information reports with risk profiles. This also tells you how to exercise your rights, such as rights of inspection, objection, correction and erasure. The identity and credit check is done by ID verification with selfie scan and by using personal data, including your name, address details and ID number, to request data from a certified credit and identity assessor. They only provide data to us under strict conditions and according to applicable laws and regulations.
Fraud and money laundering
We have an obligation under the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Act (Wwft) to investigate exactly who our customers are and to identify and report unusual transactions. As a result, so-called PEP and Sanctions tests are carried out to qualify for rental accommodation. This is done by using personal data, including your name, address details and ID number, to request data from a certified compliance specialist. They only provide data to us under strict conditions and according to applicable laws and regulations.
Public sources
We consult sources such as public records, newspapers, the internet and public profiles on your social media to prevent fraud.
Advertising
We may inform you of our new products and services via social media, in addition to the information on our website.
Publication
We do not publish your customer data.
Cookies
Cookies are used on our service. Cookies are also set via third parties engaged by us.
When you visit our service for the first time, a notice will be displayed explaining why we use cookies. We take your continued use of our service as consent to this use of cookies.
You are free to disable cookies via your browser. Please note, however, that our website may then no longer work optimally.
We have made agreements with third parties that place cookies and applications. However, we do not have full control over what the providers of these applications themselves do with the cookies when they read them. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to track how visitors use our service. We have entered into a processing agreement with Google to agree on how to handle our data. Furthermore, we have not allowed Google to use the obtained Analytics information for other Google services, finally we have the IP addresses anonymised.
Security
We take security measures to limit misuse of and unauthorised access to personal data.
Automated decision-making
We do not use automated tools to make decisions about individuals.
Retention periods and Location
We only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which your data is collected, to pursue our legitimate interests and for as long as we are required to do so by law. (such as the seven-year tax retention obligation for payment data).
If we process your personal data to answer an enquiry from you, we will keep that data for four weeks so that we can answer possible follow-up questions or address any complaint.
We store your personal data on servers in the European Union.
We use systems and suppliers to best deliver our services.
Third-party websites
This privacy statement does not apply to third-party websites connected to our service through links. We cannot guarantee that these third parties will handle your personal data reliably or securely. We recommend that you read the privacy statement of these websites before using them.
Changes to this privacy statement
We reserve the right to make changes to this privacy statement. It is recommended that you consult this privacy statement regularly so that you are aware of these changes.
Inspection and changing your data

You can also send us a request to view, amend or delete this data.
